Huge thanks to Mark Plencner for taking these pictures.

O.k., so it was cold. Other than that, I think it was a pretty great day. More provisional qualifiers. Lots of fans. Fun with Goldy. Parents getting to know each other. Just a perfect meet. Not quite as much drama as last week. Which, in my opinion, is a very, good thing! Poles getting broken takes years off the life of the fans.
All we need to do now is to continue to work on getting better, working as a team and supporting each other.
Speaking of supporting each other, Jim Gagnon took a ton of pictures at this meet. You can find them at: http://www.flickr.com/photos/mnirisguy He has them sorted by event and the flickr site offers you the ability to download any photo that you would like. Thanks Jim!!!
Pieter Gagnon's dad, Jim, is also a serious track and field photographer. He posts his stuff at the following page: http://www.flickr.com/photos/mnirisguy He took the picture shown of Elizabeth Yetzer on January 17. I, unfortunately, got no good shots of her that meet, which seemed a shame given how well she did. See - teamwork is a virtue!

I have a small favor to ask of you. It is easy to see the "official" photographers when they are around. They usually have those great big lenses mounted on their cameras. But, we fan / photographers have smaller pieces of equipment and are not quite so noticeable. That is a good thing - we don't want to be a distraction. But, it also means that folks walk into our pictures a lot. I know it is going to happen. I am just asking a favor to watch out for us. The following is an example of what could have been a great shot, but for that ghost wandering through it.
Thanks - Becky

Another great meet! Lots of fans, lots of enthusiasm, lots of surprises - some good, some not. I admit that I enjoy the Gopher trivia questions. I know a lot of the answers, but never have time to go sign up. I think I will put trivia questions in here. Just to see if you guys actually read this or just look at the pictures. So, what Gopher track person was noted in the Minnesota Daily for being able to give foot rubs? If you can tell me, I will make you a print of a picture off the web page!
We have a great time with the parents. Thanks to the folks who organize and contribute food to that event. If you are a parent and are not on the mailing list, send me an e-mail (firstname.lastname@example.org) and I will forward it on to the organizers. Arrangements have already been made for the men's parents to stay in the same hotel at Big 10's indoor championship. That makes it a lot of fun!

A great start to the season - way to go. Two provisional qualifiers in pole vault! Great performances by freshman. An all around great day.
So, I tried to take shots of everyone. But, like every year, I got a new piece of equipment that will take me some time to get used to using. So, not every shot turned out. AND, I just do not know you all. So, red shirts - come and introduce yourself. Since you are not in gopher gear, I can't find you on the track. I know I got some of you today, but I may have shot some strangers, too. Help me out here.
