I have to admit, I do believe this is my favorite outdoor track meet. From my perspective, it seems to be run really well. The field is really accessible - a short walk to every event and I can stand anywhere on the field and see pretty much what is going on, other then for the hammer toss. But more than that, if the weather cooperates, the layout of the stadium sets up this great dramatic lighting for certain events. I think my favorite shot of the year to date is the one I got at this meet of Kelly Stalpes going over the hurdles. When you look at the pictures they may seem out of order. It was the result of using 2 cameras. I broke out the big gun for this meet - my 16 pound, 400 mm telephoto. Wanted to see if it was worth it to lug that thing all the way to Big Tens. I am thinking....YES! If I do say so myself - nice photos of hammer and I just can't get those from far away with my other lens.
It was a great week end for both teams - again we saw lots of PRs. Way to keep ramping up the achievement as we head towards Big Tens.
So - Thanks to the University of Iowa - a meet well done!
