February 20, 2010 - Parent's Day University of Minnesota - Fieldhouse
|
This was a first for me... Amazing considering that I have been doing this page for 5 years now. This was the first time that I attended a meet at which the guys were not competing. I guess that comes from having been the parent of a member of the men's team. But, I have grown to love the women's competition every bit as much and have many friends among the team members and coaches. So, I was thrilled to be here. That was particularly true since I will be missing the women's Big 10 Indoor competition.
I guess it was in celebration of this special day but I took a HUGE amount of pictures. More than 3,000! Now, with running events, many of them do not turn out. Something about focusing when the runner is running at you! Autofocus can only do so much. Even with all of the deletions, there were many pictures to go through, but now they are all up.
For the parents of seniors - I will drop off 5X7" prints of the shots I took with you and your daughter at the office. Your daughter may pick them there. But, don't rush to get them. I will print those after I have gone through everything and finished posting. I will drop them off after Big 10s.

The following shots are of the Senior's celebration!

February 13, 2010 University of Wisconsin - River Falls
|
Headed off to River Falls on Saturday. It was a glorious drive over with all the trees covered in frost. Besides watching our Gophers, I had the chance to chat with Pete and observe him at work. That is a rare opportunity for a parent, so I could not miss it. (To those of you who are new to the page - my son Peter threw for the Gophers but now he coaches at U of Wisconsin - River Falls.)
Got a chance to meet some more parents and identify some more red shirts - a good day was had by all.

February 6, 2010 - Bethel Invitational Bethel University - Rec. Center
|
Not so long a drive to the Bethel Invitational. Really great meet. Lots of enthusiasm in the athletes and the crowds. I enjoyed the opportunity to meet parents of freshman and redshirts that I had not met before this meet. Got some more faces set of Gopher athletes who do not yet wear maroon and gold. But, I know I have a long way to go. So, if you see an old woman walking around with 2 cameras - that is probably me. Come and introduce yourself, so I can capture you on the page, too.
I know, when you look through the pictures, you may think I went overboard on the pole vault. You are probably correct, but it is rare that I get to shoot in a facility that actually works for pole vault shots. It is true that I can get close at the Fieldhouse, but the dark ceiling of the Fieldhouse makes it difficult to get certain angles. So...I did take advantage of this meet.
To the parents - remember, digital copies of pictures are free, you just need to e-mail. Instructions are on the home page.
